Erie man jailed for alleged Union City armed robbery

UNION CITY — An Erie County man was arraigned for an alleged robbery that occurred on February 9.

Police reported that victims said four to five subjects armed with shotguns kicked in the front door of a North Main Street residence in Union City. The victims reported that the intruders demanded money. They continued to ransack the home, taking two of the victims’ cell phones and a PlayStation 4.

Through a police investigation, Martin Winkler, 43, was determined to be involved with the crime, said police. It was found that Winkler was also the person who carried the shotgun to the robbery to threaten the victims. With assistance from the U.S. Marshall’s Fugitive Task Force, Pennsylvania State Troopers took Wrinkler into custody without incident at his residence. The illegal firearm used in the robbery was also seized from Winkler’s home at that time.

He was arraigned for the alleged robbery/burglary by the Duty District Judge, Judge McGown. A bond was set at $200,000, and he was then committed to Erie County Prison.
