Warren man sent to state prison for child porn, assault

A Warren man will spend between 80 months and 20 years in prison on child pornography and indecent assault charges.

Timothy A. Anthony, 30, was sentenced to the state prison term — and lifetime sexual offender registration — by Judge Gregory Hammond on Friday morning at the Warren County Courthouse.

Police said in the affidavit that Anthony admitted to molesting the six-year-old girl “as a test, to make sure that he did not get an erection.”

Police subsequently obtained a search warrant for his cell phone, which was sent to the Pennsylvania State Police Computer Crime Lab in Meadville.

“A search of the device resulted in graphic images of the victim being found, sexual in nature,” the affidavit states. “These images were found to be taken by” Anthony.

Police said a total of 87 images of child pornography were found on the phone.

Hammond noted that Anthony was evaluated to determine if he was “severely mentally disabled” and the evaluation determined that he was not.

Anthony’s attorney, Rob Kinnear, acknowledged his client was headed to state prison but asked that Hammond recommend Anthony for mental health, sex offender, and PTSD treatment.

District Attorney Rob Greene noted that this is an “extremely disturbing case in all aspects,” and said Anthony committed a “horrible crime for which he needs to pay his debt.”

Hammond said this was a “difficult case to even discuss.” He called the trauma Anthony inflicted on the victim “unimaginable,” and something the victim will deal with for the rest of their life.

He said Anthony is “clearly a pedophile” and views the possibility as “remote” that Anthony will walk out of prison a changed man.

Anthony was then sentenced in the aggravated range to 48 to 144 months in state prison with credit for 138 days time served, $1,625 in fines and fees, a no contact/communication order, submission of a DNA sample, a mental health evaluation and compliance with recommendations, to have no supervised contact with any minor and to complete sexual offender counseling on a count of sexual abuse of children (photo or film sex act). This offense carries a 25-year period of sexual offender registration.

On a second count of sexual abuse of children, Anthony was sentenced to 20 to 60 months incarceration and a $500 fine and an additional 12 to 36 months incarceration and a $500 fine on a count of indecent assault. Those offenses carry a 15-year and lifetime sexual offender registration requirement, respectively.

He is not boot camp or recidivism risk reduction incentive eligible.
