Warren man sentenced to 5 years for multiple drug deals, DUIs

A Warren man will spend a minimum of over five years in state prison as the result of multiple drug deals and multiple DUIs.

Cody A. Flick, 34, was sentenced to charges at three dockets during sentencing proceedings on Friday before President Judge Maureen Skerda.

Those charges include two separate counts of possession with intent to deliver, DUI: Controlled substance/impaired ability – second offense, DUI: General impairment/incapable of safe driving – third offense and a summary offense of careless driving.

Both drug sales involved the distribution of methamphetamine.

Assistant Public Defender Mike Kitay highlighted Flick’s military service and the PTSD he suffers from as a result of his service.

He noted that Flick was injured and was subsequently prescribed opioids and argued that his criminal record is tied to his drug addiction.

Skerda highlighted a cocaine issue while in the service and Flick acknowledged a drug issue while in the military.

She then sentenced him to a total 72 to 144 months in state prison, $200 in restitution to the Warren County Drug Task Force, $6,525 in fines and $2,620 in fees, participation in the victim impact panel and alcohol highway safety school programs, a combined 30 months of license suspensions, credit for 297 days time served, boot camp and recidivism risk reduction incentive eligibility, submission of a DNA sample and drug and alcohol treatment priority at state prison.
