RDA keeps up fight against blight

Fighting blight is part of the responsibility of the City of Warren Redevelopment Authority.

They will literally be doing that against the property at 11 1/2 Linwood St.

That’s because the RDA has purchased the property out of the county’s repository and city Department of Public Works crews will bring it down.

“Title has been transferred to the RDA’s name,” Terry Williams, the city’s director of codes, permitting and recreation services said. “The deed has been received.”

Williams told the RDA that a demolition permit has been issued and that DPW Director Mike Holtz will “put it into his schedule whenever he’s able between leaves and snow.” She noted further that there is a neighbor interested in purchasing the parcel post demolition.

Authority Chairman David Cantrell asked about the cost to demolish and Williams described it as a “small structure.” Holtz reiterated that the structure is small and will update the RDA on a cost at a future meeting.

Williams said there was a “minimal cost in acquisition” and a “minimal cost is demolition” and that any sale of the property will make the RDA “whole.”

The RDA also agreed to pay invoices for two of the applicants who have completed projects as part of a downtown facade grant program.
