More RDA properties demolished in Clarendon

7 Exchange St.

Demolition efforts push on in Warren County in what is the “most ambitious” effort to address blight by the County Redevelopment Association in the past decade.

Beginning at an Economy Street property, Tidioute Borough, the RDA in conjunction with the Commissioners’ Office and several county municipalities, initiated a series of four demolitions to blighted properties. The vacant lot left behind has already garnered two interested buyers.

The demolitions have moved forward to the second and third properties, 124 Main Street and 7 Exchange Street, both in Clarendon Borough.

An onlooking neighbor of the demolition property on Exchange Street said, “That house has been a problem for years.” Another added, “Now that will make a nice corner lot. We couldn’t be happier to see that property come down.”

Demolitions are being carried out by Fox and Sons Excavating, according to the commissioners.

“Fox and Sons has done a fantastic job and professional job,” said Henry Brown, president of Tidioute Borough Council.

“Our borough is a better place to live when we remove the unsafe, abandoned and blighted properties. Working together with the Warren County RDA and County of Warren helped improve the quality of life in Clarendon Borough,” said Paul Pascuzzi, Clarendon Borough president.

The demolition efforts are set to finish with 4582 Route 6, Sheffield, next week.

“Everything has gone as planned,” said Commissioner Jeff Eggleston. “The demo company has done great work. Our planning department has done great work. Hopefully, when we continue to the effort to address blight next year, it works as well as it has on these demolitions.”
