Charges for Warren man after tavern altercation

A Warren man is in Warren County jail following an alleged assault at a local tavern.

Joshua D. Lowery, 26, of Warren, was charged with aggravated assault, disorderly conduct, and public drunkenness, by City of Warren Police following an alleged Sunday morning incident.

According to the affidavit of probable cause, police responded to a report of a man assaulting a woman at Grumpy’s at about 2 a.m. Sunday.

Lowery told police he remembered dancing with a woman he didn’t know, but “that he didn’t remember what happened after that.”

Police said a witness, who said she had been dancing with the defendant, said the alleged victim and Lowery got into an argument. “The eye witness stated that the defendant then picked up the victim and threw her to the ground,” police said.

Both a Grumpy’s employee and the alleged victim reported that Lowery picked the woman up and threw her to the ground, according to the affidavit.

Police said the alleged victim was taken to Warren General Hospital for evaluation and found to have a broken elbow.

Lowery was arraigned Tuesday before District Justice Ray Zydonik and taken to Warren County jail after failing to post $7,500.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Wednesday, Dec. 4.
