Visions of dancers, melodic voices and some harmonica playing filled the Warren Area High School auditorium Sunday afternoon.

Warren County’s first Warren County’s Got Talent kicked off Sunday, October 13, at Warren Area High School.

The event was hosted by the Women’s Care Center of Warren in celebration of their first year serving the community.

Performers were judged by a panel of three judges including County Commissioner Ben Kafferlin and Jim Cheronis, lead vocalist for local Foreigner tribute band, Blue Morning. Judges judged on categories such as poise, ability to recover from mistakes, stage presence and mastering of their craft.

“The performers knocked my socks off,” said Kafferlin. “All the performers did well and many people after the show commented on how hard it must have been to judge, and it was.” According to Kafferlin, there wasn’t a large spread when the scores were finally tallied.

“Our region has such a rich history of the performing arts. We believe that this may be just the event to discover new talents and encourage many to share their unique gifts never before seen in a public forum,” posted on the Facebook advertisement for the event.

Cash prizes were awarded to winners and a basket raffle was held. All proceeds went to benefit the Women’s Care Center of Warren.

The care center is a community based non-profit organization serving Pa., NY and OH for more than 35 years, recently opening a satellite office in Warren. They offer assistance to those facing an unplanned pregnancy, those in need of counseling, those looking to adopt and offer services such as free pregnancy tests and ultrasounds, STD testing and childbirth and newborn care education.

“I’m proud of our citizens for stepping up to support the Women’s Care Center, our performers and the event. I’m very much looking forward to next year and kudos for a unique fundraising idea,” said Kafferlin.

The Women’s Care Center of Warren is located at 60 Hatch Run Road, Warren. Any questions or looking for services they provide may visit or call (814) 723-4357.
