The Census is coming in 2020 and it doesn’t just need to count people, it needs people to count.

The U.S. Census Bureau is looking to hire hundreds of people in Warren County, according to County 2020 Census Complete Count Committee Chairman Dan Glotz.

“The focus, at this time, is on recruitment,” Glotz said. “The Census Bureau is currently accepting employment applications from those 18 years old and older to fill two roles. The first role is that of address verifier. The second role will be those who visit households that had not completed their census form by April 1, 2020, which is National Census Day.”

The bureau relies on local address listers to review areas that may be problematic to ensure the census is as complete as possible.

Census takers visit the households that did not respond by other means.

According to CensusOutreach.org, field staff in Warren County will be paid $16 per hour.

“In addition to supporting your community, census jobs offer great pay every week, flexible hours, and paid training,” according to census information. “The results of the 2020 Census will help determine your state’s representation in Congress, as well as how certain funds are spent for schools, hospitals, roads, and more.”

“Persons interested in becoming part of the team must apply online at: 2020census.gov/jobs,” Glotz said.
