The Warren County Commissioners approved a bid from the City of Warren Redevelopment Authority that brings demolition closer for an east side property.

Last month, the RDA agreed to submit a bid to the county’s taxing bodies to purchase the property at 11 1/2 Linwood St. out of the county’s repository.

The commissioners on Wednesday approved the $250 bid without additional comment. The bid would need to also be approved by both the city and school district prior to the sale going through.

Code Official Ken Hinton noted at last month’s RDA meeting that the property is currently in the county repository and is “definitely a teardown.”

He noted that city Department of Public Works crews could perform the demolition.

Terry Williams, director of codes, permitting and recreation services for the city, said at the meeting that the estate attempted to give the property to the city but that several thousand dollars in back taxes were attached.

Those aren’t an issue now that the property is entirely through the tax sale process.

She speculated that the total cost for the RDA to purchase the property and demolish at less than $2,000.
