Reported missing Jeep not stolen
The Jeep that was reported missing from a Conewango Township address Saturday wasn’t really stolen.
According to Conewango Township Police, the vehicle was recovered Sunday evening. Police said it had rolled some distance away from where it was parked.
“Being a manual transmission, it was left in a higher gear and, being parked on a slight grade, simply rolled down the driveway, across a sloping field, across Yankee Bush (Road), and down a ravine where it eventually impacted a tree,” Chief Jason Peters said. “It came to rest well out of view.”
“Police inspected the scene and the vehicle and determined that no crime was committed,” Peters said.
