Two names added to Erie Diocese list of credible abuse allegations

The Diocese of Erie has announced changes – including two additional names – to its Public Disclosure List of those involved in the Catholic church sexual abuse scandal.

A Friday statement explains that “four laypersons, one of whom is deceased, and one former priest have been added to the list of those with credible allegations.”

The two new names include Ann Marie Hanes (Strall) of Spokane, Washington, a former lay teacher, as well as Robert D. Viszneki, of Erie, who is awaiting sentencing. Both have been identified as “credibly accused.”

Two others who were under investigation – Jonathan J. Borowski, a former lay employee from Fairview, and former Fr. Thomas M. Lechner of Sewickley, who was laicized – have been re-classified as “credibly accused.”

Those four individuals are all living.

Four deceased individuals were added to the list, as well.

Albert S. Davies, a former lay teacher who died in September 2005, was categorized as “credibly accused” while three new names – all deceased – were added as under investigation – Fr. Stephen A. Anderson, Michael L. DiFrancisco and Msgr. Conrad L. Kraus.

The Diocese also announced that Fr. Edward W. Jungquist “was thought to be deceased. He is now listed as “whereabouts unknown,” and is forbidden to function as a priest.”
