Construction season is almost upon us.

PennDOT has announced a $3.4 million paving project over six miles of roads in Warren County.

Part of the project includes repaving Pennsylvania Ave. from Market St. all the way to the Glade Bridge.

The project also includes .12 miles of repaving on Hemlock road from its intersection with Pennsylvania Ave. to the city line as well as 3.94 miles from the just east of Sheffield to the McKean County line.

“Work will include milling and paving, along with curb ramps, and upgrades to drainage, guide rail and pavement marketing,” PennDOT said in a Friday statement.

PennDOT said the total project cost is $3,442,932 – comprised of 20 percent federal funds and 80 percent state funds – and the work will be completed by the firm Glenn O. Hawbaker of State College.

“Work is expected to start April 15, 2019, and is scheduled for completion by June 28, 2019,” PennDOT said. “No detours are anticipated, but motorists will encounter traffic lane restrictions controlled by flaggers.”

PennDOT also offered details this week on an ongoing safety improvement project on Rt. 62. In Limestone and Watson townships and across the line into Forest County.

“The project will involve corrections in six landslide areas, including the construction of (a) 978 foot soldier pile retaining wall south of Cobham Hill Road in Watson Township,” according to a statement. “Work will also include milling and paving the roadway, building geosynthetic reinforced soil slopes and updates to guiderails and drainage.”

PennDOT said the work started in December and is expected to run through August 7, 2020.

“Work in 2019 will include slide repairs and pipe replacements. Paving is expected to take place in 2020,” PennDOT said. “No detour is anticipated, through motorists may encounter traffic controlled by flaggers or temporary signals for portions of the project.”

Total cost of that project is $13,389,062 – all from federal transportation funds – and the same firm is the contractor for that project.
