Chase ends in DUI charges for Warren woman

A Warren woman was arrested at the end of a 12-mile pursuit Monday evening.

Debra L. Hecei, 52, of Warren, was charged with felony fleeing or attempting to elude police, DUI –controlled substance, and 22 summary traffic offense.

According to Pennsylvania State Police, a trooper was driving west on Route 6 at about 6:15 p.m. and saw a white vehicle “traveling eastbound at an excessively high rate of speed.”

The trooper attempted to pull the vehicle over.

“A pursuit ensued for approximately 12 miles,” police said in the affidavit of probable cause. “During the pursuit, the operator drove through the City of Warren in excess of 80 miles per hour and at times exceeded 90 miles per hour.”

“Troopers continued to pursue until the operator pulled into a private driveway off of Scandia Road in Elk Township,” police said.

Police said Hecei appeared to be under the influence of “an unknown substance” and refused to identify herself.

“Troopers took her into custody and transported her to Warren General Hospital where she continued to refuse to identify herself, but gave several fictitious names and dates of birth,” police said. “During the course of the investigation, the driver was identified as Debra Lynn Hecei.”

Hecei was arraigned Tuesday before District Justice Daniel Miller and taken to Warren County jail after failing to post $5,000 bail. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 17.
