Bailey pleads guilty to sexual assault of 8-year-old

A Youngsville man has entered a guilty plea to charges stemming from a sexual assault of an eight-year-old girl.

Richard M. Bailey was charged in June by Pennsylvania State Police after the victim told her mother that Bailey had made her touch his penis the night before, according to the affidavit of probable cause.

The girl underwent a forensic interview the next day through Warren Forest Children and Youth Services.

According to the affidavit, the victim detailed several instances of sexual contact over a period of about two weeks and that Bailey had taken pictures of her during some of the incidents.

Bailey entered a guilty plea on Thursday before Judge Gregory Hammond to a count of aggravated indecent assault – complainant less than 13 years old.

In exchange for the plea, charges of rape of a child, indecent assault, indecent exposure and rape forcible compulsion were not prosecuted.

District Attorney Rob Greene told the court that the plea was discussed with the parents of the victim.

Judge Gregory Hammond advised Bailey that the maximum sentence includes 20 years incarceration and a fine of up to $25,000.

He also informed Bailey that the plea would make Bailey a Tier III sexual offender, requiring registration with the Pennsylvania State Police for the rest of his life.
