Drug bust nets man on bond in Warren County

One of two New York men busted Monday in a raid in Chautauqua County was on bond for a drug arrest in Warren County.

The Jamestown Metro Drug Task Force, New York State Police, and Ellicott Police Departments cooperated in conducting search warrants at two apartments in Falconer at 2 p.m. Monday.

Police reported the seizure of 11.38 ounces of cocaine, $21,206 in cash, and a loaded 9mm pistol, reportedly stolen from Erie, as a result of the searches of the apartments.

Demario Chatmon, 38, of Falconer, was charged with first-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, two counts of third-degree criminal possession of a weapon (one for brass knuckles), and a third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance after he was allegedly found to have nine grams of crack cocaine on his person when searched at the Jamestown city jail.

Damien E. Thomas, 39, of Falconer, was charged with third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon after police reportedly seized two ounces of cocaine and more than three ounces of marijuana from his apartment.

“The Warren County Drug Task Force arrested Chatmon back in January,” Task Force Coordinator Special Agent Bill Mickle said.

Chatmon allegedly sold 12.9 grams of crack cocaine near Warren Mall. The lead charge in the case is possession with intent to deliver, an ungraded felony.

“He was out on bond and awaiting trial on the charges here,” Mickle said.

After initially being taken to Warren County jail, Chatmon was freed after posting $100,000 bond.

Chatmon, formerly of Buffalo, is a high-level dealer, Mickle said, and the kind of dealer the task force is after.

Chatmon’s repeated arrests, and that he was allegedly operating outside of Warren County, “shows how the Warren County Drug Task Force targets higher level and dangerous drug traffickers and works very hard to deter them from operating in this county,” Mickle said.
