Movie Night at Otterbein

There will be a Free Movie Night at Otterbein UMC (258 Dalrymple, Pittsfield) from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday. The movie being shown is The Blind Side. Free popcorn will be provided. Everyone is welcome.

Sports Boosters Bingo

The Youngsville Eagle Sports Boosters present its “Cash Bingo Extravaganza” fundraiser Saturday, Jan. 26, at the Youngsville Fire Hall. Doors open at 5 p.m. and Bingo starts at 6 p.m. There are cash prizes from $50 to $200, a reverse raffle, a Chinese auction, and prize raffles throughout the evening, as well as drinks and snacks.

Tickets are $25 per person and can be purchased from any Youngsville athletic team, at Richard’s Restaurant, Youngsville DQ, or the Youngsville Borough office. A limited number of tickets will be available at the door until sold out. We encourage you to purchase tickets before the event. Retreat Weekend

Winterfest is a weekend retreat held annually in February for 6th to 12th graders and post-high school young adults ages 18 to 22.

This is a week to reconnect with God and friends in the midst of a busy school year. Like Youth Adventure Camp, Winterfest is a weekend to unplug from the world and get away to a (hopefully) snowy camp to rekindle your relationship with God, relax, stay up late, and have fun with friends.

Winterfest runs from Friday night, Feb. 1, through Sunday afternoon, Feb. 3. Teens and young adults join together for some rockin’ worship and then split for individualized teaching and discussion time geared towards approaching real-life issues and matters of faith from a Biblical perspective. Activities include a camp-wide scavenger hunt, late night group games, and free time with a variety of options including touch football, movies, crafts, games, and more. It’s the fun of YAC jam-packed into a winter weekend.

Winterfest is being held at the beautiful Whitehall Camp in Emlenton. This campground offers updated facilities, a common sleeping area with dorm-style rooms, hills for sledding and sliding, as well as fields for our other favorite winter activities!

This year’s cost for Winterfest is $135. You can get an early bird discounted price of $110 if you send your registration and deposit postmarked by Jan. 11.

All registrations not mailed by January 22 should be carried in, so we have the forms at the event. To hold a spot, you must send your notarized registration form and a nonrefundable registration fee of $35. Fundraiser Extended

Due to increased interest and demand for the 1st Annual Geranium Fundraiser, the Youngsville Public Library is extending the order deadline to Monday, Jan. 14 (YPL business hours are noon to 7:30 p.m. on Mondays).

Plan ahead now for this spring’s year, garden, and memorial/cemetery plot planting. You can order red, white, hot pink, and/or tango colored geraniums now through January 14th. Each flat of 8, 4″- pot sized geraniums is only $30.00 per flat (tax is included in this price). The library is working with a local grower and the geraniums will be cultivated to order, which is why we need to have all orders finalized so soon. The geraniums will be available for pick-up the weekend after Mother’s Day: on Saturday, May 19, at the Youngsville Public Library.

If more convenient, place your completed order form and payment in our secure drop-box anytime from now to Monday, Jan. 14, and we will contact you, by phone, to confirm that we received your order via our drop-box.

Advantages to ordering from YPL now are: (1) you’ll be guaranteed to having enough of the color(s) you need for this spring’s plantings, and (2) you’ll get a great bargain per flat of geraniums and help support Youngsville Library, too. Geraniums are sold in same-color flats of eight per flat only, but you can mix and match with a friend. Payment is required at the time of the order. Call 563-7670 with questions.
