Free Kids Halloween Events

In the Youngsville Borough, Trick or Treat time will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 31; only go to homes with the porch light on. But there are also many fun, free, family-oriented Halloween activities to choose from:

Saturday, October 27, noon – 3 p.m.: The 1st Annual Kids Halloween Party at the Brokenstraw Valley Winery (100 Hillside Drive, Youngsville); prizes for best costumes for all age categories. Free hot dogs and cider for kids, including games and more. Call (814) 402-9463 with questions.

Saturday, October 27, 4:30 – 8:30 p.m: “Spooktacular Fun” at St. Francis Church (343 East Main Street, Youngsville); 4:30 – 5:30, Pumpkin carving (you may take yours home at the end of the night), 5:30 – 6:30, GOULosh, corn and bread for dinner, 6:30 – 7, Haunted stories from the Bible, 7 — 8:30 p.m., Ice SCREAM sundaes, treats, a walk down the haunted lane, fortunes will be told and more.

Come anytime throughout the night or just when you can but no costumes (let us scare you).

Wednesday, October 31, 6 – 8 p.m.: “Trunk or Treat” Party at the Youngsville Free Methodist Church (179 Davis Street). Join in for a night of fun for the whole family. Indoor Trick or Treating with candy, games, and prizes. Serving hot dogs, chili, popcorn, and lots of cookies.

Wednesday, October 31, 6 – 8 p.m.: Youngsville American Legion “Halloween Party Tent” (located in the front yard of the Post 658, 10 North Main Street). Swing by the Legion’s “Halloween Tent” for a goody-bag and free beverage for the kids (while supplies last). Kids can also sign-up for a free drawing; prizes are $10 WalMart gift cards and $5 DQ cards. Sponsored by the Legion Auxiliary and the Sons of the American Legion.

Wednesday, October 31, 6:30 – 8:30 p.m.: Halloween party at the Youngsville Fire Hall for ages 0-12 years. Featuring Marty’s Bubble Gum Machine and costume contest at 8 p.m.

Halloween Party

for Adults

Friday, October 26, 6 — 11 p.m.: First Annual Adult Halloween Ball (costume party) at the Brokenstraw Valley Winery. No cover to get in. Prizes for best costumes, and music with DJ Hammer Down. Call (814) 402-9463 for information.

No JoyFull Cafe Meal

On Wednesday, Oct. 31, the JoyFull Cafe will not be open for community dinner night due to the special “Trunk or Treat” event taking place at the Youngsville Free Methodist Church from 6 to 8 p.m. JoyFull Cafe free community meals will resume their regular weekly serving schedule on Wednesday, Nov. 7, from 5 to 6 p.m.

Prescription Drug

Takeback Day

Prescription Drug Takeback Day is Saturday, Oct. 27, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Youngsville Police Department (40 Railroad Street, Youngsville). Turn in your unused or expired medication for safe disposal. The National Prescription Drug Takeback Day aims to provide a safe, convenient, and responsible mean of disposing of prescription drugs, while also educating the general public about the potential for abuse of medications.

Odd/Even Parking Begins

Odd/Even Parking will begin in the Youngsville Borough starting Thursday, Nov. 1, and run through March 31, 2019. In the borough, parking will run from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. On odd-number days of the week, you must park on the sides of the streets with odd number houses and on even-number days of the week, you must park on the sides of the streets with even number houses.
