Rummage Sale dates are Thursday and Friday, Oct. 4 and 5, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days. A bake sale is Thursday from 9 a.m. until gone. Saturday, Oct 6, is the special “$1.00 per bag sale” from 9 a.m. to noon. There is a “lift” elevator available to assist people to the basement.

Save the Date

Hometown Christmas

Youngsville’s Hometown Christmas Event will be Saturday, Dec. 1, from 4 to 6 p.m. Parade will start at 4 p.m. More details to come, but be sure to save the date so you can join in the family-oriented fun.

Borough Leaf Pickup

Leaf pickup in the borough will begin Monday, Oct. 8, and continue for approximately four weeks. Rake leaves to the curb, no stones. Do not rake into the street; bundle sticks/branches and pile separately.

Walk-in Care Hours

Warren General Hospital has expanded its Walk-In Care Service to include Youngsville beginning Oct. 2. Hours are noon to 4 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday (no appointment needed). The location is the Youngsville Medical Building, 400 East Main Street, Youngsville.

Joyfull Cafe menu

The menu at the JoyFull Cafe for Wednesday, Oct. 10, includes Soup, salad bar, and dessert. The JoyFull Cafe serves free community meals every Wednesday from 5 to 6 p.m. at the Youngsville Free Methodist Church (179 Davis Street). Free Chronic Illness Self-Management Classes

Do you have, or do you take care of, someone with an ongoing health condition? Take advantage of this new free workshop sponsored by LifeWorks Erie. Classes are highly interactive and fun. Classes are being held at Youngsville Free Methodist Church, 179 Davis Street, Wednesdays October 10 through November 14 from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m.

You’ll learn (a) techniques to deal with problems such as frustration, fatigue, and pain, (b) appropriate exercise for maintaining and improving strength, flexibility, and endurance, (c) appropriate use of medications, (d) how to communicate effectively with family, friends, and health professionals and more.

A part-time cook position is still available at the Youngsville American Legion. Call (814) 563-4412 for details. Youngsville American Legion Bingo is open to all members and their guests each Thursday night starting at 6 p.m. Food and drinks are available.

Coming Home events

Although all the members of the YHS 1971 Homecoming Court might not be in attendance, all alumni and public are still welcome to attend a special “Coming Home” bonfire event, hosted by the Youngsville Class of 1971 on Friday, Oct. 5, from 6 to 10 p.m. at the Youngsville Free Methodist Church pavilion (148 Davis Street). Bring a snack to share, lawn chairs, and your own non-alcoholic beverages.

Cost $20 per person; Alumni dance from 7:30 to 11:30 p.m. at Youngsville Fire Hall, featuring band “American Pie.” Cost $10 per person.
