Senior Center

Thursday, February 25 will be Hot Dogs in Baked Beans, dessert and beverages.

Monday, February 29 will be Shepard’s Pie, dessert and beverages.

Tuesday, March 1 will be Cooks Choice

Thursday, March 3 will be Fish and Potato Nests, dessert, beverages.

Monday, March 7 will be Chili and Homemade Cornbread, dessert and beverages.

Tuesday, March 8 will be Sweet Sausages with onions and peppers, dessert and beverages.

St Patrick’s Day dinner will be on March 17, menu will be Ham and Cabbage and the Easter Dinner will be on Thursday, March 24. Sign up early is a definite must.

Senior Center Activities

On Monday, March 7, Lynn Espin from the Allegheny Community Center will be present with a program on Arthritis and on Tuesday, March 8 Alice Peterson will be present with a program on Wellness.

These programs are open to all who wish to come and here the programs. The cost is free..

Dollar Dinner

Tidioute United Methodist Church will be holding their Dollar Dinner on Wednesday, February 24 from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

All are welcome to come and join in this evening of dining.

Cost is only $1 per person. Eat in or take out.

Second Harvest

The Second Harvest Food Bank will be set up at Tidioute Firehall on Saturday, February 27 at 10 a.m.

This is for Warren County residents.

Please bring a basket or box to carry your food items in as boxes are limited.

Little League Sign-Up

Tidioute Little League sign up will be on Saturday, February 27 and Saturday, March 5 at Buccardo’s restaurant from 10 a.m. to noon respectively.

This is for both boys and girls. You must be 4 years old to play.

Chili Cook-Off

The annual Chili Cook Off at Tippy Canoe will be held on Sunday, February 28.

Judges will sample each entry to decide a winner and those attending will have an opportunity to sample and choose a Peoples Choice.

United Fund Reaches Goal

When traveling along Main St in Tidioute, please take notice to the United Fund Campaign sign in Picture Show Park.

You will notice that the thermometer is over the top of the 100 percent mark. That’ s because they reached the 101 percent mark, raising a total of $668,907.38 thanks to a nice donation from Crossett, hundreds of individuals, businesses and industries.

Several organizations in Tidioute will benefit from these efforts such as Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Tidioute Dental Center, Salvation Army Unit and Hospice (several people in Tidioute have used the services of Hospice) and the Allegheny Community Center (which is the sponsors of the Tidioute Senior Center).

Thank you to all who gave. All monies collected are distributed among 20 different agencies, nothing is kept for staff, or payroll.

Towers Chili Cook-off

Residents of Tidioute Towers held their Annual Chili Cook-Off on Saturday, February 13 with Kate Proper winning First Place, Beth Francis taking Second Place, Bill Johnson won Third Place and Kate Proper won the Peoples Choice.

Judges were Bonnie Mickleson and Shawn Silvis.

It was a great day to have a Chili Cook=Off and everyone had a great time.

Knights of Columbus

Tidioute Knights of Columbus will hold their regular general meeting on Thursday, March 3 at St John Center at 7 p.m.

All members are urged to attend this important meeting.

Pierogi Sales

St John Church in Tidioute, PA will be selling frozen Pierogi as a fund raiser during Lent this year every Saturday from February 13 thru March 19, 2016 form 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. in the St John Center.

They will be making potato and cheese and potato and sauerkraut Pierogi. All Pierogi are make in the kitchen at St John Center.

Pre-order each week by Thursday to guarantee availability.

Walk-in sales are welcome.

Cost is $9 per dozen and $6 per half dozen.

Calling All Bingo Players

A Bingo Bus Trip will be traveling to Salamanca to Seneca Gaming and Entertainment for a day of Bingo on Sunday, March 13, 2016.

There will be many games to play and chances to win cash. The bus will depart from Northwest Savings Bank parking lot in Tidioute at 9 a.m. and stop at the Warren Mall to pick s few passengers and return back to Tidioute by 6 p.m.

Cost is $20 which is non-refundable and includes an incentive package.

Reservations and payment must be received by February 26, 2016.

Chinese Auction

The Auxiliary of the VFW Post 8803 will be having a Chinese Auction on Saturday, March 5. This will coincide with the Chili Cook Off which will be held there the same day.

Anyone wishing to donate items can contact Bev Stotler at 484-3549 or Barb Downey at 730-0392.

Your items should be at the Post home by March 4.

Clearing Sidewalks

With the next snow fall coming this week, please keep in mind that you need to clear your sidewalks of snow and ice for the mail carriers safety.

Tidioute Health Fair

The Annual Tidioute Health Fair will be held on Saturday, March 19 at the Tidioute Firehall from 7 a.m. to noon.

Cost is $40 for the comprehensive blood screening, $17 for the PSA and $10 for the A1C.

This is a 12 hour fasting blood testing and a light breakfast will be available.

This Health Fair is a combined effort between Warren General Hospital and Tidioute Fire Department.

TATA Pub Crawl

The Second Annual Tidioute TATA Pub Crawl will be held on Saturday, March 19 with opening ceremonies at 4 p.m. at the Tidioute fire hall.

There will also be a Pot Luck Dinner, Games and Prizes. Pub Crawl from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Early registration deadline February 25. Registration forms are available online or by calling Anita at 484-1009.

Cost is $20 per person which includes a T-shirt with early registration.

This years event promises to be bigger as the sponsorship grows to now include Glenwood Beer Distributor and Miller Lite Beer. And don’t forget the locals who continue to support the cause Landmark, Pub, and the Tidioute Hotel as well as the Tippy Canoe.

Thursday, Feb. 11 will be grilled ham and cheese sandwiches.

Monday, Feb.15 closed for Presidents Day.

The remainder of February will be chef’s choice.

Knights of Columbus

Tidioute Knights of Columbus will meet on Thursday, Feb. 4 at 7 p.m. at St John Center.

Soup Sales

Tidioute Methodist Church will be hosting its annual Super Bowl Soup Sales on Sunday, Feb. 7 from noon till the soup is gone.

Soups being made so far include chicken noodle, chili, chicken and rice, and stuffed pepper. Others may also be available.

Cost is $3 for a 16-ounce container, $4 for an 20-ounce container and $5 to eat in.

For those eating in you will receive a bowl of soup, crackers, dessert and beverages. If you want another bowl of soup you will be charged an additional $1 per extra bowl.

VITA Site Taxes

For those wishing to have their income taxes done by the VITA Site volunteer, call Pat at the Tidioute Senior Center at 484-3020 to set up an appointment.

Tax site dates are on Thursdays starting with Feb. 11, Feb. 25, March 10 and 24.

Appointments start at 9 a.m. and run until ???

Our volunteer will do federal, state, local, as well as rent and property rebates.

VITA site is free of charge.

Blood Drive

Tidioute Community Charter School will be hosting a blood drive on Thursday, Feb. 11 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Blood donors must weight at least 110 pounds, and be in generally good health.

Bring a positive form of ID when you come in to donate.

Calling All Bingo

Players

A girls softball team will be formed if enough interest is shown.

Steve Morrison is looking for one or two people interest in serving on the Titusville Area Little League board with him.

This is the league that Tidioute plays with each season.

Morrison has served many years on the board and would like to mentor anyone interested so that the program continues in Tidioute for many years to come.

Chinese Auction

All proceeds from this Chinese Auction will go for cancer research.

Health Fair

The annual Tidioute Health Fair will be held on Saturday, March 19 at Tidioute Firehall from 7 a.m. till noon.

Staff members from Warren General Hospital will be doing the blood draws, performing other tests such as blood pressures, height, weight, BMI, diabetic evaluations just to name a few for free.

A full list of tests will be published once it is complete.

Tests covered by the fee will include: a comprehensive blood test for heart disease, kidney disease, diabetes, thyroid function, anemia, and liver disease. Men have the option of a prostate cancer testing for an additional fee. The A1C test, which shows blood glucose over a two- to three-month period can be taken for an additional fee also. Prices for the blood work will be available soon.

This blood work is a 12-hour fasting.

A light breakfast of toast, fruit, coffee, tea and juice will be provided, along will sandwiches.

Several organizations will be there to introduce you to their efforts of providing you will health care needs.

Chili lovers will be happy to know that Tippy Canoe will be holding its annual Chili Cook Off on Sunday, Feb. 28.

Let’s get those crock pots fired up and create your most fabulous pot of chili ever, then take it to Tippy Canoe and share with your friends and neighbors.

Judges will be tasting each version entered and you must furnish your own crock pot. Once the judges are finished judging, those attending will have an opportunity to enjoy the chili.

Gun Raffle

Members of VFW Post 8803 are raffling off a Ruger 22 charger take down pistol with two 15-round magazines.

Tickets are $2 each and being sold at the bar or from any member.
