PIAA votes to delay fall sports 2 weeks
The Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association said Friday it has voted to delay the start of the fall sports season two weeks. The announcement comes after Gov. Tom Wolf said he recommended sports be delayed until January 2021.
In a statement, the PIAA said: “The board believes that the governor’s strong recommendation to delay sports to Jan. 21, 2021, has the potential negative impact on the student’s physical, emotional and mental health. These issues, along with the financial inability of many students to participate in any other form of non-school-based athletic programs affects all student directly or indirectly.”
