Preliminary hearings held in county court

Five guilty pleas were entered while charges were withdrawn against another during preliminary hearings held on Wednesday at the Warren County Courthouse.

The following defendants entered guilty pleas:

¯ Phillip H. Birt, Clarendon, to unlawful act — operate with hazardous brake system, driving while license suspended or revoked, driving with unsecured load, operate/permit operation with unsafe equipment, fraudulent use/removal of registration place and false identification to law enforcement officer. A count of operate/permit operation with unsafe equipment was withdrawn.

¯ Jacob M. Blosser, Lake City, Pa., to harassment. Charges including two counts of simple assault and harassment were withdrawn.

¯ Ryan M. Durnell, Sugar Grove, to marijuana — small amount personal use. Charges including three counts of possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a controlled substance were withdrawn.

¯ Angel L. Phelps, Warren, to theft by unlawful taking.

¯ Randy L. Snuder, Warren, to simple assault — mutual consent fight. Charges of strangulation, simple assault and harassment were withdrawn.

Charges were withdrawn against Casey L. Retterer, Warren. Retterer had been charged with a count of simple assault. Charges of harassment, public drunkenness and disorderly conduct were re-categorized as non-traffic offenses.
