Defendants sentenced via county court Friday

The following defendants were sentenced by President Judge Maureen Skerda on Friday via video as the Warren County Courthouse is closed to the public:

Jeremiah S. Kay, 33, Clarendon, to 10 months to 24 months incarceration in state prison with credit for 164 days time served, $1,150 in fines and fees, priority for drug and alcohol programs in the state prison system, a no contact/trespass order, submission of a DNA sample and boot camp and recidivism risk reduction incentive eligible on a count of criminal trespass – break into structure; six to 24 months consecutive incarceration in state prison on a count of theft by unlawful taking; three months to 12 months consecutive incarceration on a count of possession of instrument of crime with intent and a $300 fine on a count of criminal mischief – tamper with property.

Shaiyla J. Kent, 25, Cambridge Springs, Pa., to six to 24 months incarceration in state prison with credit for 121 days time served, $1,200 in fines and fees, submission of a DNA sample, drug and alcohol, mental health and anger management evaluations and compliance with recommendations, a no contact order and no boot camp or recidivism risk reduction incentive eligibility on a count of terroristic threats. On a count of simple assault, Kent was sentenced to seven to 14 months incarceration, two years of state probation and 50 hours of community service.

Joseph R. Kuzminski, 33, Pittsfield, to 72 hours to six months incarceration in the county jail, $1,550 in fines and fees, $300 in restitution, a 12 month license suspension, work release eligibility, participation the alcohol highway safety school and victim impact panel programs, 15 hours of community service and to undergo a drug and alcohol evaluation and comply with recommendations on a count of DUI: Controlled substance/Schedule I – first offense, a total of $70 on a count of careless driving and a $300 fine on a count of accident damage to unattended vehicle or property.

Neverlyn Vargas, 39, Warren, to three months to 24 months incarceration in state prison, $1,025 in fines and fees, submission of a DNA sample, to undergo a drug and alcohol evaluation and comply with recommendations and boot camp and recidivism risk reduction incentive eligibility on a count of contraband/non-controlled substance. Skerda said this was to be served consecutively with a Forest Co. sentence.
