5 plead guilty at change of plea
Five men entered guilty pleas to DUI-related charges during change of plea proceedings on Monday before Judge Gregory Hammond.
¯ Howard Edward Easton, Pittsfield, to DUI: General impairment/incapable of safe driving – first offense, failure to yield to emergency vehicle, driving on right side of roadway and careless driving. Charges of DUI: General impairment/incapable of safe driving – first offense, disregard traffic lane, reckless driving and obscured plates – illegible at reasonable distance were not prosecuted.
¯ Edd Ferguson, Panama, NY, to DUI: General impairment/incapable of safe driving – second offense, driving on right side of roadway and careless driving. Charges of DUI: General impairment/incapable of safe driving – second offense, DUI: Controlled substance – schedule I – second offense and damage real property by operating motor vehicle were not prosecuted.
¯ Ralph Parks Haight III, Clarendon, to DUI: Highest rate of alcohol – first offense and careless driving. Charges of DUI: General impairment/incapable of safe driving – first offense and endangering the welfare of a child were not prosecuted.
¯ Clifton Bryan Larson, Russell, to DUI: General impairment/incapable of safe driving – third offense and fail to keep right. A count of DUI: Highest rate of alcohol – first offense was not prosecuted. At an additional docket, Larson pled guilty to DUI:L General impairment/incapable of safe driving – fourth offense and careless driving. Charges of DUI: Highest rate of alcohol – first offense and disregard traffic lane were not prosecuted.
¯ Jesse James Salapek, Erie, to DUI: Highest rate of alcohol – first offense and careless driving. Charges of DUI: General impairment/incapable of safe driving – first offense, disregard traffic lane and operating vehicle without valid inspection were not prosecuted.
