SCANDIA – Saturday, Oct. 11, will be the final 2025 open house for Elk Township Historical Society. With winter coming and no heat in the museum, open houses come to an end in early October. The Scandia School educated children throughout its more than 100 years in existence. When it closed in 1999, Elk Township Supervisors purchased the building for $1 and later granted a 99-year lease to the Elk Township Historical Society. A group of community citizens transformed the one-room school back to its original condition and added a museum of early life in the south side of the building. The museum is located at the four corners in Scandia and is open from 1 to 4 p.m. The museum is free to visit, but donations are appreciated. All ages are welcome.
