Masks recommended as COVID community level high in Warren

Warren County is under a mask recommendation again.

The county’s community COVID-19 level is high as of Friday, with a rate of 257.71 per 100,000 population.

The Pennsylvania Department of Health reports 58 new cases of COVID-19 in the past two days.

About one third of the counties in the state were in the CDC’s high designation on Friday.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has recommended that people in Warren County “wear a mask indoors in public and on public transportation.”

The agency also suggested staying “up to date with COVID-19 vaccines. Get tested if you have symptoms. If you are at high risk for severe illness, consider taking additional precautions.”

“CDC looks at the combination of three metrics – new COVID-19 admissions per 100,000 population in the past seven days, the percent of staffed inpatient beds occupied by COVID-19 patients, and total new COVID-19 cases per 100,000 population in the past seven days – to determine the COVID-19 community level,” according to the CDC website.

In Warren County, there have been 15.4 new COVID-19 admissions per 100,000 and 5% of the staffed inpatient beds are in use by COVID patients.
