April is Child Abuse Prevention Month

April is Child Abuse Prevention Month, a time to support children throughout Warren County.

One in 10 children, according to the Warren County Children’s Advocacy Center, will be sexually assaulted before they turn 18. Throughout April, the Warren County Children’s Advocacy Center will host several events to commemorate Child Abuse Prevention Month, including:

¯ a Facebook Live event at 10 a.m. today with the Warren County Chamber of Business and Industry at www.facebook.com/warrenpa.

¯ Cooking for Kids kickoff, noon today. Participating local eateries include Liberty Street Lunch, Bent Run Brewing, Sweet Sarah’s Kettle Korn and White Cane Coffee.

¯ Wear Blue Fridays on April 2, 9, 16, 23 and 30. County residents are encouraged to wear blue every Friday and to share photos on social media with the hashtag #WWCAC, #ItTakesAVillage.

¯ Fun with Family Services at 10 a.m. Friday, April 9, a Facebook Live event on the Warren County Children’s Advocacy Center Facebook page at www.facebook.com/warrencountypacac.

¯ Inaugural Cooking for Kids event from April 11-17. Local restaurants and area businesses will come together to raise awareness and support against child abuse in local communities. Visit www.warrencac.org for a full list of participating restaurants.

¯ Coffee, Chalk & Chill at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 17, at Betts Park in Warren. The day will include free yoga, coffee from White Cane Coffee and blue chalk drawings in the parking lot.
