Audubon sets snow camps in February

As winter draws to its close, children ages 4 to 12 can attend Snow Camp at Audubon Community Nature Center.

Camp is available Monday, Feb. 15, or Wednesday, feb. 17, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., when children can join nature educators for a day in the snow and frosty air to play, learn and explore.

Children can play in the snow, perhaps find a “skating” pond, explore winter habitats and visit with their friends. The earliest flowers bloom this month, and insects are starting to stir.

Children will be in age groups for all activities, including lunch.

Most of the day is spent outdoors. Parents are asked to pack extra clothes, mittens, shoes, and outdoor gear, as well as a snack, lunch, water bottle, and a face covering.

Cost for the day is $40 or $30 for Nature Center member children. Additional siblings receive a $5 discount.

Enrollment is limited. Paid reservations are required by Friday, Feb. 12, for the Monday camp and Monday, February 15, for the Wednesday camp. For more information and to register, call 569-2345 during business hours or go to AudubonCNC.org and click on “Register for a Program.”

For 6- to 10-year-olds, Audubon also offers The Outdoor Classroom. The morning and/or afternoon sessions on Thursdays or Fridays have outdoor formal lessons in the morning and free-choice activities in the afternoon. Learn more by going to AudubonCNC.org and clicking on “Register for a Program.”
