Relay for Life open house on March 12

Help reignite the fight against cancer in our area.

Relay for Life of Warren County is looking to spread awareness about the world’s war on cancer.

Warren County has one of the highest cancer death rates in the state with Pennsylvania having the second highest cancer rate in the country.

Between 2012 and 2016, 588 Warren County residents passed away from some form of cancer, and one in three people will have a cancer diagnosis in their lifetime.

These statistics have to change, according to the American Cancer Society.

The role of Relay for Life is to advocate for a cure.

On Thursday, March 12, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m., Relay for Life of Warren County will be hosting an open house at the North Warren Volunteer Fire Department. The goal is to give the community the opportunity to learn what Relay for Life does, how it does it, and most importantly, why.

Cancer has touched each one of us in some way. Whether it be a personal fight, or a fight of a family member, friend, co-worker, neighbor; there is no one left unaffected. And, fighting alone can leave one feeling helpless.

All funds raised by Relay for Life helps the American Cancer Society provide vital services to cancer patients such as Road to Recovery and Hope Lodges. The American Cancer Society also provides a 24/7 call service to help patients and their caregivers with questions they may have about cancer, cancer treatments, and available services.

The mission may be serious in nature, but Relay for Life likes to put the “fun” is fundraising.

The open house will provide information on the Relay for Life event and provide an opportunity to support or join the cause.

Stop by for some fun and pizza, and learn about the fight for a cure.
