Retirement outreach
Outreach staff from the PA Department of Banking and Securities will be coming to the Warren Library at 205 Market Street in Warren to present the STaRT (Start Today and Retire Tomorrow) Program twice on Tuesday May 22, from 11 a.m. to noon and again from 6 to 7 p.m. These programs are free and open to the public.
STaRT addresses the issue that most Pennsylvanians are not saving enough to achieve financial independence in retirement. STaRT discusses retirement planning with the goal of helping you determine your retirement goals and how to get there. No matter where you are in the timeline for retirement, know that it’s never too late to start. The good news is that if you make the necessary changes today to meet your goals, you can achieve financial independence tomorrow.
The department’s calendar of free, non-commercial programs and presentations can be found online at http://bit.ly/1KIscBZ.
Consumers and community groups can call 1-800-PA-BANKS or email informed@pa.gov for more information.

From left, Heather Cathcart-Norris, Vice President of the Board of Directors for the Warren-Forest Counties Economic Opportunity Council (EOC) and Robert A. Raible, Executive Director of the Warren-Forest Counties Economic Opportunity Council, accept a check from Marina Burch and Shane Oschman of Northwest Bank for the 2018 Neighborhood Assistance Program. This program is offered by the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development. In this program, local businesses partner with agencies in projects that address specific needs within the community. This donation will be used to fund needed updates and renovations at the Faith Inn in downtown Warren. Six of the nine units at the Faith Inn will be used as transitional housing for those persons who have completed their sentence at the Warren County Jail and are hoping to successfully transition back into the community. The housing will be for those who would otherwise be homeless and more likely to end up back in the system or serve past their sentence due to not having a place to go. The focus of the program will be to provide supportive programs which will include housing search and placement, financial coaching, and employment services, as well as connections to other programs within the community in an effort to help people re-enter the community.
