Interested painters are invited to the weekly Tuesday morning paint classes being offered from one stroke painting to basic painting projects. Class time is 9 a.m. Bring your artistic ideas with you! Tricia and LuAnn will be on hand to welcome and assist you.

Do you want to try a new card embroidery craft? Join Nancy Lyon on Thursdays in the ACC Rec Room at 9:30 a.m. to enjoy this fun craft and discover the artist in you! No sign-up required.

Remember to call ACC at 723-4180 by 11:00 a.m. at least 2 DAYS IN ADVANCE to make your noon lunch reservations. A monthly meal calendar can be picked up at the center and meals can be reserved well in advance, just not less than 2 days in advance. The suggested reserved-meal donation for all those 60 and over is $3. All noon lunches are well balanced and planned to provide maximum nutritional benefits.

ACC is open Mondays through Thursdays from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. ACC is closed on Fridays, legal holidays and on those days when Warren County schools are closed unexpectedly due to bad weather.

OPPORTUNITIES

Making a difference at our local senior community centers

Meal Service -Volunteers are needed in centers to help in the kitchen and for clean-up for meal service.

Custodial Service – Love to clean? Volunteers are also needed at the ACC to assist the staff with daily or weekly cleaning.

Apprise volunteers needed – Call Elaine Krill at the Aging office (723-3763, ext. 123) to ask about being trained to help others with their insurance choices!

Ombudsman – These volunteers are advocates. Call Joy at the Aging office to talk about the program at 723-3237, ext. 125.

Looking ahead to next year’s tax season – We are always recruiting people to become a trained volunteer tax preparer to assist filing income tax, PA Property tax and Rent Rebates. Training is provided by the IRS.

Also for 2018 – The ACC is also looking for a few volunteers to help make tax appointments using an online scheduling database. Volunteer must be computer literate.

At the Allegheny Community Greenhouse – Located on the grounds of the Warren State Hospital – looking for assistance with greenhouse planting and maintenance.

At the Toy Shoppe – Also located on the grounds of the Warren State Hospital – help to make wooden toys that are gifted to local children. Make a Difference!

The Warren-Forest Area Agency on Aging will serve the following lunch menu at various locations: Allegheny Community Center in Warren, 01/15 thru 01/18: Monday, ACC closed; Tuesday, chili, tossed salad, baked potato, corn bread, mandarin oranges; Wednesday, pizza burger on a bun, cheese, sweet potato bites, creamy coleslaw, sherbet or ice cream; Thursday, center cut pork chop, gravy, whipped potatoes w/chives, braised cabbage, white bread, apple crisp; Friday, ACC closed: Marienville: Mon., Wed. & Thurs. meals from the ACC lunch schedule; Endeavor: Tues. & Wed. meals from the ACC lunch schedule & Fri. meal of potato crusted Pollock, cheesy shells, sweet peas, white bread, fresh seasonal fruit: Tidioute: Mon., Tues. & Thurs. from the ACC lunch schedule; Sheffield: Mon. & Thurs. meals from the ACC lunch schedule & Fri. meal of potato crusted Pollock, cheesy shells, sweet peas, white bread, fresh seasonal fruit.

Eligible participation is 60 years and older with a suggested meal donation of $3.
