Christmas Parade & Walk Friday evening in downtown Warren

The annual Warren Christmas Parade begins at 6:30 p.m. Friday in downtown Warren.

Parade registration will take place from 5:30 to 6:15 p.m. One representative from each unit must come to the registration tent, which will be set up in the Times Observer driveway, between McDonald’s and Subway.

The parade lineup will begin under the Tops sign in the Market Street Plaza.

Some highlights of the parade and walk:

¯ Lather Salon: Santa’s elves will be passing out candy canes.

¯ Molly Dies’ Dance Express: the Intensive Program of Linda Dies’ Unlimited will be presenting “A Christmas Spectacular” – a high-kicking, heartwarming, hometown Christmas musical at the Struthers Library Theatre on Friday, Dec. 8 through Sunday, Dec. 10. Advanced show tickets can be purchased through any performer, at the studio, or at the box office the day of the event. You don’t want to miss this encore performance with added scenes, songs, and the same old heartwarming feel.

You will leave that theatre with a beat in your fee, a smile on your face, and a tear in your eye. Perfect way to get you into the holiday spirit.

¯Kraft and Encore Consignments: Ben Kraft will be dressed as Olaf and Laura Kraft and children will be dressed in Christmas colors will be walking the parade route passing out business cards and candy canes for Kraft General Handyman Services and Encore consignment.

¯Relay for Life: Relay for Life is the signature fundraiser for the American Cancer Society. Relay is staffed and coordinated by volunteers in more than 5,200 communities and 27 countries. Volunteers give of their time and effort because they believe it’s time to take action against cancer. Each event is 6-24 hours in length and each team is asked to have a member on the track at all times to signify that cancer never sleeps. Cancer patients don’t stop because they’re tired, and for one night neither do we. Warren County will be holding their 27th annual event June 23-24 at Warner Park in Russell. This year’s event theme is Fairy Tales. Join us for food, fun and an amazing, heartwarming time.

¯WACKO: The Warren Area Cacophonic Kazoo Organization (WACKO) is an unstructured group of county residents who love music but play kazoos anyway. Yes, we’re WACKO.

¯Warren County Special Olympics: will be in the Northwest Community Room frosting and decorating cookies with the children who will be attending the Christmas walk.

¯VirgAnn’s: Warren County Career Center pastry demonstration

¯Encore consignment: all shoppers will get a swag bag, all purchases over $20 get a gift from the table or a gift card from $5 to $50.

¯Warren Cycle Shop: open extended hours and will have refreshments

¯Warren Antiques and Giftware: chance to win a $25 gift certificate just for walking in, princesses, and madrigal singers

¯Arbor House: band at 6 p.m. and hot drinks available.

¯Blair: come see Mrs. Claus after the parade

¯Authors Books and Music: Bigfoot will make an appearance

¯Allegheny Antiques: Youngsville Baseball Team will be collecting money and handing out foil Pokemon cards with donation. Local author Robert M. Hahn signing books at the front of the store

¯Jefferson Defrees Family Center: hot chocolate and cookies

¯Warren County Historical Society: Victorian open house and trolley tours

¯ The Lions Club will be selling sausage sandwiches at Second Ave. and Liberty St.

¯ Boy Scouts: will be roasting chestnuts at Liberty St. and Third Ave.

¯ SADD: basket raffle with Santa at Struthers

¯ The Enchanted Fairytale Troupe will be entertaining at Second Avenue Exchange during the Christmas Walk. The group will greet visitors, collect toys for Toys for Tots, and sell tickets to the Enchanted Breakfast to be held with seatings at 9 and 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 16, at First United Methodist Church in Warren. The breakfast is intended to raise funds for the troupe’s trip to Children’s Hospital of Buffalo.
