Hillary Anderson

Halls Of Ivy

Hillary Analesa Anderson, a 2010 graduate of Warren Area High School, was admitted to the Virginia State Bar on Wednesday.

Anderson, daughter of John and Kris Anderson of Scandia and Diana and Eric Paddock of Gordonsville, Va., received her Juris Doctor degree from Syracuse University College of Law in May. Concurrently, she earned a Master of Public Administration degree from SU’s Maxwell School.

The Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs (commonly known as the Maxwell School) is Syracuse University’s home for professional degree programs in public administration and international relations; scholarly, doctoral programs in the social sciences; and undergraduate instruction in the social sciences. Maxwell is ranked as the top graduate program for public affairs in the country.

At graduation from Syracuse in May, Anderson received the Cornelius W. Wickersham Jr. Award. The award is presented to the highest ranking students in the field of Constitutional Law at participating law schools in the Second U.S. Circuit.

During her time at SU, Anderson served as Lead Articles Editor for the Syracuse Law Review and Director of the Hancock Estabrook 1L Oral Advocacy Competition.

Anderson was also a member of the law school’s National Appellate Advocacy Competition team. The regional competition was held at the U.S. District Court in Brooklyn, New York. The NAAC was created by the Student Division of the American Bar Association in 1978 to emphasize the development of oral advocacy skills through a realistic appellate advocacy experience.

Anderson is currently completing a one-year clerkship with Judge Robert C. Chambers of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of West Virginia. Following that assignment, she will return to the firm of Arnold & Porter Kaye Scholer as a second year associate. Arnold & Porter Kaye Scholer LLP is an international law firm based in Washington, D.C. APKS is well known for its trial, corporate, and antitrust work, and for its pro bono commitments. Founded in 1946, it is one of the largest law firms by revenue in the world.

Class Christmas Luncheon

The Warren High School class of 1960 will have their Christmas Luncheon on Wednesday, Dec. 13 at the Conewango Club, 201 Market Street, at noon. All class members, mates, and friends are invited.

Red Hat Society

The Red Hat Society Purple Majesties will meet for dinner and gift exchange at 6 p.m. Monday, Dec. 11, at the Eagles Club.

Bridge results

Bridge play winners at the Allegheny Community Center on Tuesday were Connie Michel and Margaret Morgan, coming in first and second. Thursday afternoon at the Woman’s Club, Donna Holding was the winner followed by Marge Polito. Thursday evening at the Warren Library the winners were Connie Lucia, first and Patty Baker, second.

Class lunch

The Warren High School class of 1947 will meet for lunch at 11:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 15, at Perkins. Those looking to make reservations are asked to call Betty at 723-2447.
