Dragons are blazing at Beaty-Warren Middle School. During the Blazing Dragon Award event Friday morning, school officials recognized sixth-graders for academic achievements during the first grading period.

Family members were invited to celebrate with their students.

Each student was called up to receive a certificate of achievement. A total of 44 students were recognized with honor roll for posting averages between 85 and 92 percent with no grade lower than a 75. Another 30 achieved merit honor roll — scoring an average of 93 or higher with no grade lower than 80 percent.

“These students represent a group of students who have made an excellent transition from the elementary school to the middle school and have strong work ethics,” English language arts Teacher Jeana Morrison said. “They consistently complete their assignments and prepare for assessments.”

“As teachers, we are so proud of these students,” Morrison said. “They are excellent role models for their peers.”
