Warren Woman’s Club hosts January tea

Happy New Year wishes were extended to all Woman’s Club members attending the annual January tea, by President Karen Davis on Monday, Jan. 9.  She thanked the Woman’s Club Needle Arts group for their delicious and stunning sweets and savories! Table decor included variegated poinsettias, tea pots and teacups and bears of all sizes wearing knit sweaters.

Guests were welcomed and introduced including Kim Slocum, Nancy Foster, and Juliet Hornburg.

Mrs. Davis recapped recent club news of the successes of the What’s New for the Holidays artisan show in November, the holiday raffle overseen by Judy Champlin, the well-attended member-guest Christmas dinner and the first of four Friday Bridge marathons. A big thank you was extended to member, Connie Michell, and club manager, Anne Higgins, for their organizing of the Bridge Marathon and to those who volunteered to prepare and serve lunch.

Upcoming future events were outlined by President Davis.  The Needle Arts group will meet on Monday, Jan. 16, at 1 p.m. at the Woman’s Club.

The next luncheon gathering is Monday, Jan. 30, at noon with Juliette Enfield from the Penn State Agricultural Extension Youngsville office telling about the status of agriculture in Warren County which brings in over $20 million annually to our county alone and $7.5 billion in 2015 to our state of PA!  Alice Kellogg and Suzie Painter are hostesses and reservations are due by Friday, Jan. 27.

Also ahead in 2017 are the Usable Discards sale Friday and Saturday, April 7 and 8, and the annual May Fashion Show being co-chaired by Judy Champlin and Barb Olson set for Monday, May 15, in the club ballroom with a theme of the Kentucky Derby.

As the club year winds down to April, members were encouraged to invite friends to a luncheon and ask them to consider joining Woman’s Club.  Mrs. Davis also suggested current members offer to volunteer for an open Board or Committee position for the approaching two year term.  New members are always welcome and may find more particulars by visiting the Warren Woman’s Club website or calling the club manager, Anne Higgins, at 723-5910.
