Photo submitted to Times Observer The Cub Scouts and families of Pack 14 out of Russell went on an autumn hike to Hector Falls. The Scouts learned the essentials of hiking, what to take with you, respect for the environment and other hikers, identifying animal tracks and scat, and got to see an awesome waterfall with their friends and families.

Retired Women of URC lunch

The retired women of United Refining Company will have lunch at the Conewango Club, Market Street, at 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec≥ 13.

Santa in Starbrick on Saturday

The Starbrick VFD will be sending Santa through the Starbrick area on a fire truck on Saturday, Dec. 17 starting at 10 a.m. until the entire Starbrick area has been canvassed. Santa will be passing out candy canes, so come on out and keep an eye out for the man of the season.

Red Hat Society meeting

The Red Hat Society Purple Magesties will meet for their Christmas gift exchange at Perkins on Wednesday, Dec. 14 at 6 p.m.

Evening prayer

Holden Evening Prayer will be held at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 14, at First Lutheran Church, located at 109 W. 3rd Ave., Warren. This service is a long-time community event and will be held each Wednesday during the season of Advent.  All are welcome.

Bridge results

Results of duplicate bridge club championship Monday night at YMCA were:

1st–Karen Cassin and Richard Woodruff with 46.13;

2nd–Sally Steele and Dorothy Boekeloo with 42.5;

3rd–My Ignatius and Carol Stone with 41.06.

Caregivers’ Support Group meeting

The December meeting of the Caregivers’ Support Group will be held at noon on Monday, Dec. 19, with a tureen luncheon at the Grace United Methodist Church, Wesley Parlor, 501 PA Ave. E., Warren.  Beverages and table service will be provided. Those attending are asked to enter the building via the elevator entrance from the parking lot. For more information about the December  luncheon, call Karen at 723-9440 or Linda  at 726-1199.

K of C meeting

The Knights of Columbus will meet at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 15, at the North Warren Clubhouse. All members are invited to attend.

Community meal

On every Wednesday, the Youngsville Free Methodist Church serves a Community Meal at 5 p.m. Please join us on Wednesday, December 14, for Baked Ziti, Garlic Bread & Salad Bar. We’d love to have you join us and get to know your neighbors and friends from the community.

Mrs. Claus feels it is really important to read to children, so she has taken time out of her busy schedule to visit the Warren Public Library several times. Here she shares a book with children during the Library's Toddler Time on December 5.
