Brown

Friends, family and neighbors of Bill And Tootie Brown gathered at Tidioute Fire Hall Saturday to help them celebrate their 70th wedding anniversary.

The Browns were married on Sept. 16, 1944, in Ozark, Alabama, while Bill was in the service.

Tootie is the daughter of the late George and Alice Konkle and wore a navy blue ensemble with matching accessories and had a corsage of red roses for her wedding and was attended by the groom’s sister Marguerite Brown. Bill is the son of the late William and Louise Brown and was attended by Cpl. Edward Lee Sadler of North Carolina. Bill was serving with the Field Artillery at Camp Rucker, Alabama, when they were married.

For the anniversary party, more than 200 people attended from Youngsville, Pittsfield, Warren, Tidioute, Titusville, Grand Valley, Garland and as far away as Indiana, Pa.

The family would like to thank everyone for sharing in the 70th anniversary party for Tootie and Bill Brown and a big thank you to Ella Johnson, Pam McLaughlin, Merla McAfoose and their helpers who put it all together.
