Warren’s Latimer ends stellar high school career at states

SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – An absolutely brilliant high school athletic career for Warren senior Lydia Latimer came to a close on Saturday at the PIAA Track and Field Championships.

Competing in the Class 3A high jump, Latimer finished in a tie for 24th, clearing 5-0.

Palisades senior and University of Pittsburgh recruit Lydia Bottelier made history, tying the PIAA record of Cyre Virgo (Fleetwood, 2003), clearing 5-11.

For Latimer, it concluded a career as a Dragon that saw her break the school kills record in volleyball, leading the Dragons on a run all the way to the state title game this past season.

In addition to her four District 10 titles in the high jump, she also won the 200 this year as well, in addition to being a D-10 champion in swimming.

She will continue her academic and athletic career at Cleveland State, where she will be a member of the Vikings’ volleyball team.
