Weather forces multiple postponements

A runner splashes through a puddle on the track at Eisenhower High School during a meet between the Knights and Seneca, Tuesday, April 23, 2019. Afternoon storms created a few wet spots on the track, but the meet was able to be held despite the inclement weather.

A very busy Tuesday sports schedule was wiped almost completely out by rain and thunderstorms in the area.

In total, six baseball and softball games had to be postponed, with Eisenhower’s home track meet against Seneca the lone event that didn’t get rained out.

The Warren baseball team, fresh off a 7-1 win over McDowell on Monday, was supposed to travel to Ainsworth Field in Erie to take on Cathedral Prep, but that game has now been moved to Thursday. The Dragons still have four more games this week, which also includes home contests against Corry on Wednesday and Bradford on Saturday, as well as at Meadville on Friday.

The Warren softball team, meanwhile, had its Region 7 opener at home against Harbor Creek pushed to today. The Dragon tennis team was scheduled to take on Titusville at home, and that match is now today as well.

For Youngsville, their scheduled home baseball game against Kane has been moved to Saturday, with first-pitch scheduled for 3 p.m. The Lady Eagles’ home softball game with Cambridge Springs was pushed back just one day.

At Sheffield, their home softball game against Johnsonburg was postponed, with a make-up date of Saturday, May 11 at 12 p.m.

For the Eisenhower Lady Knights softball team, their Tuesday home game against Iroquois was also pushed back to today.
