Beyer closes career at states

LEWISBURG, Pa. – Senior swimmer Andrew Beyer closed out his stellar career with a swim in the 200 freestyle event at the PIAA 3A Swimming Championships at Bucknell University Friday.

It was Beyer’s second consecutive trip to the state meet. He swam the 200 IM in 2018.

North Allegheny’s Jack Wright won the event with a time of 1:35.04. LaSalle College’s Liam Smith was second with North Penn’s Ryley Fein third.

The two-time state qualifier has left his mark on the Dragons program.

Beyer set school records in the 100 backstroke (1:01.74) and 200 IM (2:18.81) this season, and was part of a record-setting relay team as well (200 medley, 1:58.41).

He’s also a two-time District 10 champion. He won the 200 IM in 2018 and the 200 free this year. Additionally, he’s got another seven D-10 medals in his career.
