Warren grad Adams earns top PAC honors

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio — The Grove City College women’s track and field team produced four victories Thursday afternoon and evening at the Presidents’ Athletic Conference Championships, hosted by Youngstown State University at the WATTS facility. The four victories and numerous other top finishes helped Grove City take second overall in the team standings with 98 points.

Junior jumper Katlyn Adams (Warren, Pa./Warren) earned Co-Field Most Valuable Performer honors in recognition of her performance in the meet. Adams won the triple jump with a conference- and school-record leap of 34 feet, 11 1/4 inches. She also took third in the long jump by marking at 16-10.

Sophomore Gretchen Elsey (Pulaski, Pa./West Middlesex) earned Grove City’s other field victory Thursday when she cleared 4-11 to win the high jump. Elsey also won the high jump at last year’s outdoor championships.

Senior Elizabeth Donahoe (Export, Pa./Franklin Regional) captured the 400 meters in a time of 1 minute, 1.43 seconds. Grove City’s distance medley relay squad also claimed victory as junior Heidi Hoffman (McDonald, Ohio/McDonald), junior Maddie Graner (Pittsburgh, Pa./Eden Christian), freshman Olivia Lowe (Grove City, Pa./Grove City) and sophomore Karen Prem (Towson, Md./Towson) combined for a winning time of 13:29.37.

Sophomore Emma Lizewski (Cranberry Township, Pa./Seneca Valley) earned second in the triple jump (34-8 1/2) while senior Tabitha White (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Allegheny) earned third in the high jump by clearing 4-8 3/4. Prem earned third in the mile (5:23.54) while junior Rohanna Foote (Harriton, Pa./Ardmore) finished third in the 60 meters (8.07 seconds). Foote finished fourth in the 200 (27.49) as well, while Prem placed fourth in the 800 (2:25.70).

Sophomore Abbey Collins (Bridgeville, Pa./Chartiers Valley) earned fourth in the long jump (16-7 3/4). White, Donahoe, freshman Jane Vannoy (Waldoboro, Maine/Medomak Valley) and junior Madison McKivergan (Londonderry, N.H./Londonderry) captured fifth in the 1600-meter relay (4:23.56).
