Eisenhower’s Logan Jaquay shares a high-five with coach Kris Black following Jaquay’s quarterfinal match win in the District 10 Class 2A Tournament at Sharon High School, Friday, Feb. 22, 2019. With the win, Jaquay not only advanced to the semifinals of the tournament, but secured a berth in the regional tournament as well.

SHARON, Pa. – Eisenhower’s Joey Bauer, Logan Jaquay and Cael Black are through to the semifinals at the District 10 Class 2A wrestling championships.

The Knight trio led a strong first day at the D-10 championships for EHS.

Six of the seven remaining Knights are still alive for a trip to regionals after Day 1, and the trio of Bauer, Jaquay and Black have already qualified for regionals, with D-10 sending the top eight in each weight class.

After receiving a first round bye at 220, Bauer had no trouble in pinning Corry’s Shawn Proctor in the second period at the 3:54 mark. He will draw Reynolds’ Wyatt Owen in the semifinals.

Jaquay, wrestling at 113, pinned Lakeview’s Robert Reiser in the second period at the 2:30 mark in the prelims, and followed that up with another fall, this one also in the second period against Cochranton’s Stephen Martinec (3:38). He will face Cambridge Springs’ Ayden Miller in the semis.

Eisenhower’s Cael Black tries to escape the grasp of West Middlesex’s Anthony Gioan during their 195-pound preliminary match at the District 10 Class 2A Tournament at Sharon High School, Friday, Feb. 22, 2019. Black advanced to the quarterfinals with a 7-3 decision. Black also won his quarterfinal match, defeating Corry’s Hayden Linkerhof to secure a berth in the regional tournament.

Black, meanwhile, got a 7-3 win over West Middlesex’s Anthony Gioan in the prelims, setting up yet another battle with fellow freshman standout Hayden Linkerhof of Corry. It was Black who won this round, 3-1, to punch his ticket to the semifinals, where he will face the top seed, Titusville standout Parker Harvey.

Gannon Jaquay (132), Josh Bortz (138), Garrett Head (145) and Alex Barnett (160) all won first round matches before dropping their quarterfinal bouts.

Ethan Chambers (170) and Jesse Gourley (285) also remain alive for Ike.

Youngsville’s Jacob DeSimone also won his preliminary round match via forfeit at 285 before falling in the quarterfinals. He is still alive as well.

Action gets underway today at 9:15 a.m. with the semifinals, consolation round 2 and consolation semifinals. The third fifth and seventh place matches will begin at 4 p.m. and the Parade of Champions and the finals will be at 6 p.m.

Eisenhower’s Alex Barnett grabs Franklin’s Carson Wible in a single leg during their 160-pound preliminary match at the District 10 Class 2A Tournament at Sharon High School, Friday, Feb. 22, 2019. Barnett pinned Wible to advance to the quarterfinals.
