Fresh off state runner-up finish, Dragon quartet of Latimer, Chase, Nyquist and Lobdell earn All-District 10 honors

It didn’t take long for the dust to settle from Warren volleyball’s run to the PIAA Class 3A state championship before postseason accolades began rolling in.

Four Dragons were named to the Pennsylvania Volleyball Coaches Association District 10 All-District Team. Senior Lydia Latimer was a first-team selection at middle hitter for the third straight year.

Joining her were first-time first-team selections Celia Chase senior outside hitter and junior setter Lex Nyquist. Nyquist was a second-team selection in 2017. Ellie Lobdell garnered second-team honors at opposite for the second straight year.

Additionally, Latimer was named the AVCA/MaxPreps Player of the Week for the week of Nov. 12-18 and was on the American Volleyball Coaches Association All-American watch list.

Nyquist is on the AVCA Phenom List for underclassmen.

This quartet, as did most of their teammates, all blew past multiple career highs as they made a run to the state final. Chase set them in kills (310) and digs (247); Latimer in kills (428), aces (66), total blocks (91) and digs (306); Lobdell in kills (245) and digs (309); Nyquist in total blocks (32), digs (233) and assists (1,094).

All-region and all-state teams will be announced at a later date.
