YHS falls at Ridgway

RIDGWAY, Pa. – The Youngsville volleyball team traveled to Ridgway for a non-region match on Monday and fell in three sets, 13-25, 14-25, 11-25.

Andrea Sveda had a strong match with 2 kills, 2 blocks, 5 digs and a strong serve-receive effort. Also helping the Lady Eagles were Amber Evans (9 service points), Maddie Uplinger (6 kills) and Megan Foley (2 kills).

“We were without our libero tonight and shifted our rotation around quite a bit,” said Youngsville coach Barb Lutton. “There are some things we want to try a little differently for occasions like this.”

The JV team was a 2-0 winner, 25-21, 25-22.

Leading the Lady Eagles were Mallory Sherrard (10 service points, 2 kills, 4 solo blocks) and Mikayla Eyler (15 service points).

“The girls played with a lot of heart and never gave up,” said coach Vicky Straub.

Youngsville returns to action on Thursday, hosting Warren County Christian School.
