Warren tennis falls at Hickory

HICKORY, Pa. – The Warren girls tennis team traveled to Hickory Tuesday and fell 5-0 to the Hornets.

Due to inclement weather, matches were shortened to 8 game pro-sets. At first singles, Gracie Wood lost to Morgan Bender 8-4. At second singles, Emily Grimm lost to Caroline McGonigle 8-3. At third singles, Taylor Lester was defeated by Isabelle Frangakis 8-3.

“We played a very good Hickory team today” said head coach Jon Meyer. “It was a long road trip and the weather delay didn’t help. Our girls all struggled.”

At first doubles, Ceci Citro and Maddie Rodgers faced tough opponents in the team of Emily Spielvogle and Leah Martin, falling 8-1. At second doubles, Kaity McCracken and Meg McGuinness lost go Lauren Ordinario and Kate Morelli 8-0.

“It was a tough day for both of our doubles teams,” said assistant coach Colin Kenney.

In exhibition play, the team of Rylee Nuhfer and Kamryn Moore won 6-4. Amanda Gray and Kelsey Pratt lost 6-2, and Alanna Hultberg lost her singles match 6-4.

The Dragons are 3-5 on the year. Their next match is Thursday against defending region champion Fairview at Betts Park at 4 p.m.
