Baldensperger, Twins win title
The Northeast Twins 17u and 18u teams wrapped up their summer tournament season in Niagara Falls, NY at the Lancer Classic tournament.
The 17u team, lead by Lance Baldensperger, repeated as tournament champs. Baldensperger finished the tournament going 7 for 20 at the plate, scoring eight times and driving in 11 runs. Three of his seven hits were for extra bases, a double and two home runs, one being a grand slam.
The 18u team finished in third place, losing only to the 17u in the semifinals. Colby Johnson and Derek Knapp both pitched well for the Twins over the weekend. Johnson pitched to a 5-4 victory over the Lancaster Thunderbolts, allowing four runs on 10 hits while striking out five and issuing only one free pass.
Knapp pitched 5 2/3 innings against the Twins 17u, allowing eight runs on eight hits while striking out three and walking four batters. Dan Manion (Bradford ) came on in relief.
At the plate Johnson was 3 for 11 with a double, while scoring four times and drawing three walks. Knapp went 6 for 16 with a double scoring four runs and driving in two
