Rocky Grove wins 2A baseball title

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. – The Rocky Grove baseball team made history Thursday.

With its 5-4 win over Camp Hill at Penn State’s Medlar Field at Lubrano Park, the Orioles not only brought home the PIAA class 2A baseball championship, but became the first District 10 team to win a state baseball title.

The Orioles (17-3), playing as the home team, scored a pair in the first and three more in the second to jump out to a 5-0 lead. Camp Hill (17-9) plated its first run in the third.

Despite multiple errors and having a pair of runners thrown out on the basepaths, it looked like Rocky Grove would run away with the 2A championship.

The Lions decided to make things interesting late. They scored twice in the sixth to make it 5-3 heading into the final frame. They added another in the seventh and had the tying run on second. Rocky Grove issued an intentional walk to put the go ahead run on first with two outs. The Orioles were able to induce a game-ending pop up to seal the championship.
