Lady Dragons notch road win over LeBoeuf

WATERFORD – It may have been over a week since the Warren Lady Dragons took the field for a game, but they didn’t show any rust.

Ellie Lobdell struck out 16 in a 2-hitter and Julia Lobdell drove in three runs as Warren (6-1 overall, 5-1 Region 6), cruised to an 8-1 win over Fort LeBoeuf on Monday.

The win gave Warren a sweep of the regular season series, with the Lady Dragons currently sitting in the driver’s seat in the region.

Offensively, Warren pounded out 14 hits.

“It was nice just to get a game in; we had four games postponed last week,” said Warren coach Jon Sitler. “Ellie was hitting her spots and we had a few key hits late on offense.

The Dragons put up two runs in both the third, fifth and seventh innings.

Kiersten Hoffman was 3-for-4 with two doubles and a pair of RBI, while Jordan Sitler was 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI and Celia Chase was 2-for-4 with an RBI. Lobdell, in addition to her prowess on the mound, had a pair of hits and two runs batted in.

The JV team fell by a score of 12-10.

Alex Neureiter had three doubles and Kyleigh Wilson two, while Mariesa Clarke led the way with four RBI. Sitler and Neureiter had two RBI each.

Sitler, Neureiter and Ashleigh Deppen all had multiple hits, while Kelsey Stuart struck out 12 on the mound.

Warren returns to action today at Corry.

UNION CITY 14, EISENHOWER 2

UNION CITY – Eisenhower coach Mike English is pleased with how his team is progressing.

And, despite a 14-2 setback on Monday at Union City, it’s easy to see why.

“I’m just so proud of them,” English said. “We’re hitting the ball. We’re doing a lot of good things.”

The Lady Knights had eight hits, led by Miranda Garris, Shelby Kuzminski and Alexis Courtney.

Garris was 3-for-3, Kuzminski 2-for-2 and Courtney 3-for-3, as Ike struck for a run in the first inning.

Kennedy Koe had the hot bat for Union City, which had 13 hits, going 4-for-4 with a triple.

Eisenhower struck again for a run in the third against UC pitcher Eliza Davidson.

“The middle of the lineup is doing wonderful,” English said.

Ali VanDee was 3-for-3 for UC.

The two teams play again today at Werner Park.
