Dragons drop Region 6 contest at Fort LeBoeuf

WATERFORD. – Warren jumped out to an early lead at Fort LeBoeuf Wednesday, but the Dragons couldn’t make it hold up as the Bison scored late to grab a 9-7 Region 6 win.

The Bison (8-6 overall, 4-2 Region 6) scored a pair in the bottom of the sixth to retake the lead after the Dragons (8-3, 3-2) had tied it at 7-7 in the top half.

Warren took advantage of a pair of LeBoeuf errors in the first to plate the first run of the game. Derek Knapp singled to lead off and Mitch Grosch reached on an error. One out later, Lance Baldensperger reached on an error and Knapp scored on the play. Aidan Morrison followed with a 2-RBI double to left and a Nate Betts RBI single had the Dragons up 4-0.

The Bison got one back in the home half. Corey Shields drew a two-out walk and Jaiden Cross tripled him home to cut the lead to 4-1. They wasted little time taking the lead in the second.

A double and single made it 4-2, and a one out single put runners on first and second. Dom Sanflippo doubled them home to tie the game at 4-4. Sanflippo took advantage of a pair of Warren mistakes to score. He moved to third on an error and came home on a balk by starter Colby Johnson to put LeBoeuf up 5-4 after 2.

The Dragons got the lead back in the third as Morrison hit a one out single to left and Betts followed with a RBI double. Betts moved to third on an error and came home on Owen Balas’ sac fly to center to put Warren up 6-5.

Sanflippo struck again for the Bison in the fourth. A single and double put runners on second and third with one out. Sanflippo stepped into the box and lined a single to center to score both runners and put LeBoeuf back on top, 7-6.

Ryan Rafalski drew a two out walk for the Dragons in the sixth. Courtesy runner Ryan Arnold came in and stole second, then scored on Knapp’s single to center to knot it at 7-7.

Dan Foltz singled to start the bottom of the inning, then came home on Alex Jarrett’s double. Jarrett scored on a one out sac fly by Shields to close out the scoring.

The Dragons get a day to rest before heading to Meadville Friday.
