Despite sweep, Youngsville turns in solid performances

CORRY, Pa. – Youngsville’s track team picked up a pair of new district qualifiers, but were swept in the team race at Corry Thursday.

The boys fell 94-55 while the girls lost 110-40. Each team had a new qualifier. Linsey Jukes qualified for the District 10 meet in the 100 and long jump and Jordan Keyes qualified in the long jump.

“(We) spent the evening in Corry taking advantage of a beautiful evening, awesome facility and the ability to try kids in different events being a non-region meet,” Youngsville coach Michelle Johnson said. “Although neither team won, numerous kids turned in strong performances with personal bests and (two) qualifying for districts.”

Jukes also won the 200. Naomi Swartzbaugh continued her strong season, winning both hurdles.

For the boys, Noah Myers again came home with individual wins in the 100 and 200 and Aaron Morris swept the hurdles. Keyes picked up wins in the long jump and javelin and Jake Hogg won the triple jump.

Youngsville will take part in the Harbor Creek Invitational Saturday.
