Warren’s Beyer wins D-10 title in 200 IM

Warren’s Lydia Latimer had a pair of individual second place finishes at the D-10 swimming championships at the SPIRE Institute in Geneva, OH over the weekend.

GENEVA, OH – Warren’s Andrew Beyer is a District 10 champion!

Beyer lived up to his billing as the top-seeded swimmer and then some in the 200 IM with a blazing time of 2:06.45, outdistancing Josh Merchbaker of Meadville (2:07.22).

Beyer advances to the PIAA championships held at Bucknell University March 14-17.

Lydia Latimer also had a very strong showing, finishing second in both the 50 free (24.76) and 100 backstroke (1:00.48).

As a team, the Lady Dragons (236 team points) finished second to McDowell (645), while the boys finished third with 212 team points, which was also won by McDowell (543).

Other Lady Dragons results included the 200 medley relay team finishing second to McDowell, Cara Anderson (2:12.37), Emily Savedge (2:15.1) and Sabrina Johnson (2:15.46) going 6-7-8 in the 200 free, Paige Johnson finishing sixth in the 200 IM (2:29.19), Anderson fifth in the 100 fly (1:10.19), Savedge fifth in the 500 free (5:49.67), the 200 free relay third, Sarah Nugent eighth in the 100 back (1:09.52), Paige Johnson third in the 100 breast (1:14.10) and the 400 free relay team third.

For the boys, the 200 medley relay team finished second, Connor Guiffre (57.32), Stephen Ashbaugh (57.61) and Hunter Smith (1:01.59) going 3-4-5 in the 100 fly, Cade Johnson fifth in the 100 free (53.93) and fourth in the 500 free (5:25.79), Beyer third in the 100 back (55.64), Ashbaugh third (1:03.13) and Seth Harrington ninth in the 100 breast (1:12.76) and 400 free relay team fourth.
